MEET ME!
Hi, I’m Matt! I’m truly passionate about helping people find their love of music and “piano personality” (no matter their age or experience level).
So, who am I? Here’s a quick rundown...
I’m a professional pianist, composer, music professor, published music author, and global musical artist and educator. I have been humbly honored with numerous accolades over the last 15 years, including several wins and nominations for national and international awards.
I’ve had the privilege of working with music hall-of-fame legends, as well as Grammy, Tony, Emmy, Golden Globe, and Academy Award winners and nominees...but my favorite people to work with are my students!
GLOBAL AUDIENCE
My music has been heard/performed in award-winning films, international television, streaming services (including Netflix, Hulu, Apple, PBS), national podcasts, professional theatre, video games, and viral videos from various creators that total over 75 million views.
I have been an invited judge many for many music competitions (at international/national/regional levels), as well as a competitor who has ranked as a finalist and semi-finalist in several international music competitions (including multiple Top 10 placements).
As a global artist, I have traveled through 15+ countries as a musician and educator. I am also a music entrepreneur who's serviced clients in all 50 states and 30+ countries spanning six continents.
As an international artistic scholar and author, I have been an invited speaker at 20+ international academic conferences and penned numerous music-centered books, textbook chapters, and journal/magazine articles (totaling dozens of publications with 10+ international publishers).
PASSIONATE TEACHER
My first love has always been teaching. I'm a massive believer in the power of education. My teachers helped me become the person I am today, and I love paying that forward!
My own educational training includes three degrees: B.A. in Music Theory, Piano & Composition (Campbellsville University), M.A. in Music (Campbellsville University), and M.F.A. in Music Composition (Vermont College of Fine Arts), as well as certified music courses from Berklee College of Music.
For the last 15+ years, I've been a music professor who has taught full-time or part-time at five universities, in addition to being a frequent invited guest musical artist and educator at numerous other universities, institutions, and artistic organizations.
My students have gone on to perform on Broadway, national tours, commercial albums, cruise ships, and in movies, television, and with entertainment companies such as Disney and Universal. But I'm also just as proud of my students who learn piano simply for the love of the craft and the joy it brings their life!
