Does Any of This Sound Familiar?
✕ You've always dreamed of playing beautiful piano, but you don't know where to start.
✕ Somewhere along the way, you were told you're too old, too late, or "just not talented."
✕ Traditional lessons felt like homework, and YouTube videos leave you more confused than when you started.
✕ You don't want to spend years on boring scales and classical drills before you play anything you love.
✕ You practice and practice, but it still doesn't sound like music.
✕ You've tried other lessons or programs and felt like you were just paying for another dead end.
✕ You feel like you're doing this all alone.
If even one of these feels true, please hear this: it isn't your fault. You just haven't had the right guide yet.
(And yes — even if it's been decades since you touched a piano, or you're starting fresh in your 50s, 60s, 70s, or beyond.)

Picture This...
It's a quiet afternoon. You sit down at your piano — not to practice, but to play.
Your fingers know where to go. The chords come naturally. The music fills the room, warm and unhurried, exactly the way you always imagined.
Someone walks in — a grandchild, a friend, your spouse — and says, "I didn't know you could play like that."
You smile. Because for the first time, you're not just getting through the notes. You're playing something beautiful. And it's not one song you memorized; it's a skill you'll carry into every song for the rest of your life.
Every piano dream looks different. Yours might be:
- Playing carols on Christmas morning while everyone sings along
- Playing "Happy Birthday" at a family gathering as a heartfelt gift
- Playing a hymn or worship music for your Sunday church service
- Playing in a band with your friends
- Bringing music to a retirement home and watching faces light up
- Playing at a wedding as someone you love walks down the aisle
- Playing quietly for yourself, just because it brings you joy
It's time to stop dreaming it and start playing it.

Meet Your Piano Guide
Hi, I'm Matt!
For a long time, I believed beautiful piano playing — the kind that comes from feeling, not just from the page — was something only a rare few were born with. I didn't think it could be taught.
I was wrong.
I've dedicated my life to performing beautiful, emotionally-driven piano — and teaching others to do the same.
- Three music degrees; university music professor
- Award-winning pianist & composer
- Worked with GRAMMY & EMMY winners
- Music featured in films, TV, and theatre
- Helped thousands of adult students in 35+ countries
- Best-selling author of music books and judge for international music competitions
But here's what over 15 years in the music industry and education fields taught me: traditional piano lessons don't work for most adults. They're built for kids — not for grown-ups who already know what music they love.
So I built something different: Basic to Beautiful, the exact method I've used to help thousands of adult learners and millions of online viewers discover it's never too late to play beautiful piano.
It's what I'm most proud of in my life — not the awards, the commercial successes, or the industry milestones. My greatest accomplishment? Helping guide thousands of adults just like you on their own beautiful piano journey.
If previous lessons ever made you feel slow, behind, or 'not musical,' that was not a reflection of you. It was the wrong method.
P.S. Whether you're 35, 55 or 75 years old, whether you played as a kid and quit, or you've never touched a piano before — it's not too late. I've watched it happen countless times.

More Than Music
Why Learning Piano May Be One of the Best Gifts You Can Give Yourself
As a music professor, I've spent years researching how music shapes our lives. That work has been featured in university courses, scholarly publications, and international conferences.
What the research suggests is beautiful: learning piano can nourish your mind, body, and spirit at any age.
- Sharpens memory and focus. Piano engages your eyes, ears, and both hands at once, making it a wonderful workout for your brain.
- Lifts your mood. Studies link playing music to lower stress, greater confidence, and a better overall quality of life.
- Keeps your hands nimble. The gentle coordination piano asks of your fingers may help maintain dexterity as we age.
And the best part? You get all of this while doing something you love.

Why I Built Basic to Beautiful Differently
Most piano apps and online courses follow the same pattern: you buy once, you reach a static ending, and you're on your own. You work through the same limited fixed lessons as everyone else, with only an algorithm for feedback.
I didn't want to build that. Here's what you get instead:
- A real teacher, not an algorithm. Every lesson is taught by me, not an app or a "team member" you've never met.
- Made for adults. It's not a kids' method dressed up for grown-ups. You play real music with real emotion, without years of drills first.
- Your path, your pace. Skip ahead, jump around, and focus on the songs and skills that excite you most.
- A program that keeps growing. 25+ hours of step-by-step video lessons and song tutorials, hundreds of lead sheets and chord charts (with new exciting content added every month for life.)
- You're never alone. You get a private community and exclusive engagement with me during weekly live streams. Signature tier adds weekly private group Q&As, personal video reviews, and a one-on-one lesson with me.
- Easy to follow. Every video has automated captions and adjustable playback speed. Plus all content is conveniently organized inside one platform (not jumping around between several platforms like other online piano programs make you do).
A program that grows with you, taught by someone who truly cares about you and your progress.

This Is Why I Do This...

"I'm 74 years old, and Matt has given me a richer, more satisfying life. I decided to learn the keyboard at age 69 — after struggling on my own, I discovered Matt's Basic to Beautiful program and finally made real progress. His teaching style is completely unique; he gets you playing beautiful music right away, no matter your age or skill level.
Beyond his jaw-dropping, concert-level talent, Matt is a true friend to his students — warm, funny, and endlessly patient with any roadblocks along the way. What he's given me is a joyful lifestyle that's absolutely priceless."— Pat
